On Wednesday, March 11, 2015 Dancing Classrooms (DC) will celebrate its annual Gala evening at the Pierre Hotel in New York City.  This event celebrates the work of Dancing Classrooms.  The Humanitarian Honoree is Jephtha Tausig, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist licensed in New York and Massachusetts, a Visiting Scholar at Columbia University, and a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine. The Social, Emotional and Learning Champion Honoree is Roger P. Weissberg, Ph.D., NoVo Foundation Endowed Chair in Social and Emotional Learning, University of Illinois at Chicago Chief Knowledge Officer, Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning.

On behalf of Dancing Classrooms and the 2015 Gala Steering committee, we would like to invite you to support the work of Dancing Classrooms by participating in the 2015 Gala Evening through a purchase of advertisement space in our journal. 

A BRIEF HISTORY OF OUR GALA

Celebrating its 21st year in 2015, Dancing Classrooms has continuously celebrated its donors and sponsors at this annual gala event.  Approximately 2000 invitations are mailed to recipients in the New York metropolitan area and more than 300 guests attend the black-tie event. The evening features a cocktail reception, live auction, performances by school children and the Youth Dance Company, and includes  a seated dinner, presentations, and dancing.

Proceeds from our annual Dinner Dance Gala allow us to bring Dancing Classrooms to 200 schools in the New York area and serve 25,000 children.

The 2014 Gala raised nearly $500,000 to support Dancing Classrooms in-school, the Dancing Classrooms Weekend Academy and the Youth Dance Company.

Our mission is to cultivate essential life skills in children through the practice of social dance. Our vision is to meaningfully participate in the development of schools and communities where every child is connected, respected, and provided a safe environment in which to thrive.
