A 1940s USO style benefit for the Wounded Warriors Project on The Intrepid, sponsored by the Life is Priceless Foundation www.lipf.org, will take place this Saturday October 11 from 8:30pm-1:30am. Songstress Allyson Briggs, band leader of Fleur Seule www.fleurseule.com is bringing in swing dancers, instructors, and a 7 piece big band for Swing Era Sophistication.
The theme for this year’s LIPF Commit Courage (#CommitCourage) Gala is Victory Day in New York City 1945. (Think the famous photo of the sailor kissing the nurse in Times Square.) The event attire is Black Tie but for those who would like to embrace the spirit of the theme all are invited to come dressed in a period correct officer’s uniform and WWII Ladies Fashion. A Broadway costumer is available to secure uniforms and help outfit all appropriately. For 1940s fashion inspiration visit the Pinterest board at http://bit.ly/1r5Z256.
